The Ipoh City Council distributed 2,000 packets of bubur lambuk including bubur cha cha to the council’s staff in the holy month of Ramadan on March 12.

The event was officiated by Ipoh City Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah. Also present were Chief Whips Datuk Mazlan Abd. Rahman and Wong Kar Keat,councillors and heads of departments.

Four groups, Merket Yeop, Kampung Muafakat, Istana Bulan Putih Ramadan Mubarak and Kampung Sawah who cooked the bubur to be distributed to the council’s employees.

The groups consists of staff from the various council’s units and departments. The event is aimed at strengthening bonds and friendship among the workforce and also continue the tradition of cooking and distribution.

This year a competition for the best decorated stall  was held which was participated by the four groups. Merket Yeop was adjudged the winner and won RM400 in cash.

Kampung Muafakat came in second and collected RM300  followed by Kampung Sawah who went home with RM200. Istana Bulan Putih Ramadan captured fourth spot and received RM100.

It is hoped such events would continue in the future to enhance cooperation, spirit of togetherness and brotherhood among the council’s employees.
