Ipoh City and its residents celebrate the 38th anniversary of city status with assurance from the Mayor that the Ipoh City Council will focus on the “back to basics concept” .
The highlight of the anniversary celebrations was the officiating of the event by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad at Ipoh Convention Centre here on June 18. Also present were State Secretary Datuk Ahmad Suaidi Abd. Rahim, councillors, council heads of departments and senior Government officials.
Ipoh was declared as a city on May 27, 1988 by Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Shah Muhibbudin Shah.
Several activities are being held and discounts for summons are being offered by the council.
The Mayor, Zamakhshari Hanipah in his speech said,” the success of a city is not measured by physical development ,awards or reports of achievement. But it is gauged by the people’s daily life..they want to feel the success and experience and not what the residents merely read as Menteri Besar emphasizes.
“We will continue to focus on the services by the council including efficient waste management, well maintained landscaping, maintenance of road and drains and also ensure street lights are functioning,” he added.
The council will continue to focus on the well being of the community, healthy living style, enhance public spaces and community based activities to foster unity among the residents.
Zamakhshari commended Ahmad Suaidi who was the 11th Mayor for his reaffirmation on the core task of the council staff , to be professional, integrity, discipline and people centric.
Saarani presented appreciation certificates for their excellent services to representatives from various sectors including best taxpayers, individuals and companies.
