Ipoh’s Lorong Seni@Lorong Panglima came to live hosting Chinese New Year celebrations to usher in the Year of Horse by the Ipoh City Council recently.
The objective of the event was to give an opportunity for the city residents to know and understand the tradition and culture of the different races in celebrating the various occasions.
Such celebrations will strengthen the spirit of unity and harmony.
Several activities were held including lion dance, Chinese drum in collaboration with Macha and Seni Market, council’s Gema Warisan Budaya performance, an exhibition by former students of Bridge Club Ipoh and sales of handicrafts from local entrepreneurs.
The council hopes such events would enhance the understanding of Chinese culture and at the same time foster stronger unity among the locals.
It was officiated by Ipoh City Council councillor Datuk Ahmad Hariri Kamarudin and joined by councillors, heads of departments and officers.
