Enough is enough, Ipoh City Council is going after irresponsible people who throw garbage indiscriminately and they would be poorer by RM1,000 in summonses without any avenue for appeal.

Ipoh City Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin@Md Daud described them as those who do not love the city and consideration which only put a dent in the council’s efforts to inculcate the culture of making the city Smart and Prosperous which is the slogan for the council as well.

“We will issue the summons under the Roads, Drains and Building Act.

“Such acts must be stopped immediately as it will project a negative image and set a bad example. As a city dweller we have a role to safeguard moral and civil values.

” This is in line with the council’s objective to attain the cleanest city and the best local authority in the country,” he added.

Meanwhile Rumaizi stressed that from January 1 to December 31 last year, a total of 120 illegal rubbish dumping sites had been cleared 5,073 times.

A total of 1,214 summonses worth RM498,750 were issued.

At the same time the council organised 49 gotong royong activities and put up a total of 1,485 small warning sign boards and 185 large sign boards against dumping rubbish in the city.

The mayor noted the summonses are issued as a last resort after other actions are ignored by the public.
