The 83th Ipoh Low Carbon Day 2025 (ILCD) Program held on October 26 at Dataran Bandaraya enlivened the event with the hosting of the second Ipoh Half Marathon.
A total of 2,500 participants took part in the marathon divided into three categories, 21km, 10km and Fun Run (5km).
The Fun Run was flagged off by Ipoh City Mayor, Zamakhshari Hanipah.
Some 1,500 people participated in the ILCD with the theme this
time “Access to Mental Health when faced with Disaster and Emergency” in conjunction with World Mental Health Day celebrated in October.
It is aimed at increasing awareness on the importance of safeguarding mental well being and emotion especially when confronted with challenges.
It will also prepare the community to equip themselves with abilities,show concern and be resilient to encounter crisis and stress.
ILCD remains one of the Ipoh City Council’s initiatives to realise the transformation of Ipoh as Low Carbon City in line with Low Carbon Cities Challenge (LCC2030C) organised by Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Ministry.
This is a commitment by the council to reduce carbon release in the city which aligns with the national objective to bring down greenhouse gas emissions to 45 percent by the year 2030.
The hosting of the Ipoh Half Marathon @Ipoh Low Carbon Day 2025 not only achieved the objective to enhance the awareness of the low carbon lifestyle but also created a positive impact on the physical well being and mental health of the participants and the local community.
The event was also brightened with the display of taekwondo displays by children of the council staff to add to the family atmosphere and community spirit among the visitors and participants.
