The unsung heroes of the were rewarded by Ipoh Mayor with cash and appreciation certificates for the month for September on Oct 27.

The recipients  from the council’s Public Health and Municipal Services Department are K.Sathiamurthi (Zon Housing Trust), L.Puanesvaran (Zon Housing Trust ), Meor Yusri Yusof (Zon Pinji), Muhammad Faizal Libasa (Zon Tambun) and the lone  female employee, Noor Aishah Hassan Basri (Zon Pinji).

The employees from the civil services assistants, vehicle drivers and supervisors category received the certificates and RM100 which were deposited into their bank accounts from  Ipoh City Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah.

They would also be recognised after  their names and pictures and would be displayed at the council’s offices and public places.

This is an idea from the mayor to recognise and appreciate to reward employees who have excelled in their duties and also inspire and motivate in their job.

They are tasked with handling solid,household,garden and bulk waste, cleaning garbage from the council’s markets,food courts, hawkers centres, cleaning of roads and clearing of illegal rubbish dump sites.

According to a statement by the council, the employees are responsible to keep the city clean, prosper and well being of the residents.

They are the backbone of the workforce whose task  is the core operations of the council.

Among the criteria to pick the employees for the rewards are, zero disciplinary records, attendance without any medical certificates or rest days, reporting duty on time and carrying out the task with responsibilities and commitment.

They would be evaluated by the department’s evaluation panel to receive the rewards.

The recognition is given every month  which is a catalyst to enhance their duties and create a healthy competition and together provide provide efficient services for the well being of the city’s residents.
