Some 3,000 city residents participated in the Ipoh Low Carbon Day (ILCD) held for the 64th time in the city.
This year’s theme was “Fit Malaysia” in conjunction with National Sports Day observed every Saturday on the second week of October yearly.
National Sports Day is celebrated to inculcate sports culture to the community through healthy living style.
ILCD kicked off with the flagging off the Geopark 5 Run with a distance of 5km organised by Perak State Corporation (Geopark).
It was flagged off by Ipoh City Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin@Md Daud at Dataran Ipoh.
ILCD was held to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Perak State Geopark formation.
The run was jointly organised by Ipoh City Council, Perak State Park Corporation, Tourism Perak, Global Exhibitions & Conferences and Persatuan Nadi Sihat Malaysia.
The event was graced by Raja Muda Perak, Raja Jaafar ibni Almarhum Raja Muda Musa and Raja Dihilir Perak, Raja Iskandar Dzulkarnain ibni Almahrum Sultan Idris Iskandar Al-Mutawakkil Alallahi Shah II Afifurlah.
Raja Muda Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa officiated the International Geopark Run Series (IGR) Series 0.1 2024 Kinta Valley.
The IGR is an event held annually which will include Geopark locations nationwide of which next year will start in Kinta Valley followed by Lenggong in Perak, Gunung Jerai, Kedah and completed in Pulau Langkawi.
