Buntong assemblywoman YB Thulsi Manogaran came to the aid of a university student by donating a laptop worth RM2,100 to help in his studies at Waller Court flats recently.
Sharwin Sarawanan,18,who scored 8As in the SPM examinations had secured a place at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) under Asasi Pintar programme.
According to Thulsi, it was a struggle for the youngster who came from a B40 group.
The family of six had to depend on his father who takes on various odd jobs to keep them going. His mother is a homemaker.
They have been paying rental for decades for a shelter over their heads which is in a deplorable condition.
“Knowing he did not own a laptop, we stepped in to give him one to support his education journey at the institute of higher learning.
“We have no doubt that Sharvin will go on to achieve great things and eventually uplift his family. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude for sharing how much it will help in his studies,” she added.
