Come January 1,  2024 all business premises in the city will have to place rubbish bins at the buildings in compliance with the Trade, Business and Industries, Food Establishments 2017 and Garbage Collection and Disposal By Laws.

It is offence if premises do not comply with ruling and offenders will be issued compounds of RM500 and not exceeding RM1,000 by Ipoh City Council. 

The council hopes from now onwards untuk December 31, 2023 all premises will  provide rubbish bins. 

Premise owners can also purchase the 120 litres bins from the Council’s office at Jalan Sungai Pari or call 05-2411022.

Compliance of the by laws would help create a join responsibility to keep the city clean as well as to give the impetus to achieve the cleanest city in the country this year and Bandar Bestari Sejahtera status by 2030.

On another note, the council manage to reduce the number of illegal dumpsites from 1,672 in 2020 to 120 by July 2023.

The reduction is based on several measures undertaken by the council including distribution of free garbage bins, pamphlets on management of solid waste from homes and business premises, collection of garden waste and bulk for free of charge,  construction of domestic waste collection centres and anti litter operations.
