Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim presided over the launching of the National Landscape Day 2023 at Taman DR Seenivasagam in Ipoh.
Present was Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, the Minister of Local Government Development, YB Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Human Resources, YB V. Sivakumar, Deputy Minister of Local Government Development, YB Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, Sarawak Minister, YB Datuk Dr. Penguang anak Manggil, Perak State Exco YB Sandrea Ng, Perak State Exco, Datuk M Noor Azman Taib, Ipoh Mayor Dato Rumaizi Baharin among others.
The aim of the National Landscape Day is to bring awareness and appreciation of nature and green surroundings in the city.
In his address, the Prime Minister added that a green environment will also bring a better quality of life for members of the public.
“I also urge people to make landscaping a feature in their daily life as it will bring much benefit for the overall community.
“To-date we have reserved some 13,328 hectares for public parks all over the country for the benefit of the public and environment. In 2023, we have allocated RM74 million for the development of landscapes all over the country.
“Now it is time for Malaysia to prioritise landscape in the forefront,” said Anwar.
Meanwhile, Nga added that the elements of good landscaping adds to the sense of pride for the community.
Other activities at the ceremony are Bamboo workshop, Green Urban Forum (GUF), Art Latte Showcase / Art Latte Demo, Space & Spark Outdoor, Flower arrangement contest, Fun Walk, Food Truck and many more.
