Another tourist attraction is on the way for visitors, the first Dinosaur Park in the state to be built at Gunung Lang Recreational Park here.
Ipoh Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin and Syarikat PEBEC Berhad, represented by its chairman Norali Nordin signed a Memorandum of Understanding yesterday (August 4).
Witnessing the ceremony were Ipoh City Council councillor Datuk Ahmad Hariri Kamaruddin who is also the council’s tourism sub committee chairman and PEBEC Berhad Principal Consultant, Yang Mulia Tunku Datuk Ahmad Burhanuddin Tunku Datuk Seri Adnan.
Dinosaur Park will be located on a 2.4ha site at the Kinta Valley Geopark.
The project would be carried out in two phases with the first phase which includes 30 static and animatronic dinosaurs, a learning centre which can accommodate 100 students and a souvenir shop.
Work on the first phase will be completed within six to eight months upon approval of all plans.
The second phase would begin one year after the opening of the first phase.
It would house 3D and 4D theatres and a water play area.
Currently, there are six dinosaur parks operating in the country. They are The Top in Penang, Resort World, Genting, Pusat Sains Negara, Kuala Lumpur, Zoo Teruntum, Kuantan, Zoo Melaka and Jurassic Land in Tuaran, Sabah.
The park is also expected to boost the tourism sector in the state.
