Perak became the second state after Kelantan to set up the Mediation Centre by the Perak Bar to solve disputes and cut down on costs.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) M.Kulasegaran officiated the launch of the Perak Bar Mediation Centre here together with Malaysian Bar President Anand Raj recently.
With the theme “Resolving Disputes the Smarter Way” it involves family matters, employment issues, contractual, commercial disputes and property disputes, personal injury claims and medical negligence claims.
The benefits of the operation centre are cost effective, confidential, quick resolution, parties decide on settlement and legally binding.
It operates from the Perak Bar located at 41, Jalan Maharaja Lela,Ipoh.
Kulasegaran in his address said:”With the setting up of the centre by the goes to show it continues to play an important role in advancing legal reform and strengthening our justice system.
“The establishment of the centre at the state level is a significant achievement which creates a dedicated space where individuals and business can resolve disputes through dialogue rather than prolonged litigation.
“It also demonstrates the Bar’s commitment to improving access to justice and serving the wider community,” he added.
Meanwhile Perak Bar Mediation Centre Director S.V. Namasoo said “There is a 50 percent discount on fees for three months. The centre has been established to provide a trusted platform for quality mediation services. To encourage members of the Bar to embrace mediation as an essential professional skill. To increase public awareness of mediation as a practical avenue for dispute resolution,” he added.
