Ipoh City is laying plans to attract more international brands following the opening of the vastly popular Hard Rock International Hard Rock International merchandise shop here.

Ipoh Mayor Dato Rumaizi Baharin was speaking at the launch ceremony of Hard Rock International outlet recently.

“Our main target is to make Ipoh a popular tourist city and one of the strategies is to bring in international brands. 

“To this regard, there has been an increase of tourists to Ipoh and the number of weekly  flights from Singapore and Johor has gone up to 45 from 14 in 2019.

“Hotel occupancy rate also went up to 50,000 tourists to the city for the first four months of this year,” he told reporters.

Meanwhile, the Hard Rock International brand is among the most  globally recognised companies with venues in over 70 countries spanning 290 locations is opening its fifth outlet in Malaysia with the latest addition in  Ipoh. 

The rock shop to be located at Palo 101, Jalan Sultan Iskandar would offer a dynamic dining experience, iconic music memorabilia and a menu featuring classic American dishes. 

For a start Hard Rock merchandise would be sold from June 16, with the opening of the outlet expected by end of the year. 

Currently Hard Rock operates in Kuala Lumpur, Malacca, Penang and Johor Bahru. 

The opening is also timely as it is Visit Ipoh Year 2023 and Visit Perak Year 2024. 

Also present at the event were Hard Rock Cafe  International area vice-president Franchise Cafe (Asia Pacific Region) Malcom Chao and Tiong Nam Group Hotel and Hospitality General Manager Johnny Lau.
