The Ipoh City Council continues to make efforts to ensure the city is clean and pollution free by handing over garbage bins at First Garden here.

A total of 93 units (240 litres) and 29 units (660 litres) had been allocated for shop houses while 2,562 (120 litres) would be given to residential homes.

Todate, the council has given out 84,547 garbage bins in the city.

The handing over ceremony was part of the council’s programme on using rubbish bins culture and town hall session on traffic flow and additional parking lots at the housing scheme on  Dec 27, 2023.

Jelapang assemblyman Cheah Pou Hian who officiated the programme said: four CCTVs will be installed to curb illegal  dumping  rubbish sites. 

“We want to create a clean and healthy environment and it is a responsibility of everyone,”he added.

Also present was Ipoh City Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin@Md Daud, councillors and heads of departments. 

At the town hall session, Cheah said,” it is to get feedback from residents on traffic jams and parking problems in the commercial area of the housing scheme. 

” In the past we have received complaints from the community and  shop owners  and we hope in the new year a transformation will take place to solve the problems for the well being of the people,” he added. 

Meanwhile Rumaizi said:”as part of the plans to ease traffic congestion three roads,  Lorong Taman 9, Lorong 10 and Lorong Taman 11 will be converted into one way streets. 

“This will also pave the way to create more parking lots for the convenience of motorists,” he added.
